Salt Famine

One of the 'Walking' series. Undertaken to keep my hands occupied and give my mind a rest. The bleached color comes from the missing spaces of now leafless trees and sidewalks not yet covered in snow and the serenity that comes with being bundled up and quietly plunging through city streets with weather closing in and people hurrying home. It is as easy to be alone in a crowd as it is difficult to be isolated within oneself.

assemble images, layer and compose, add hand detailing in inks and textures, scan to computer and finish in PS. Print at 36 X 54 on Kozo rice paper, add a light layer of encaustic medium and polish with steel wool.
