Gérard Verbecelte I understand how you feel, Wes. What a calamity also to suffer this climate change. This construction is part of our national heritage and I've photographed it several times over the last 20 years. A little history ... The first jetty was built in 1894 and burnt down in 1914. A new concrete pier was erected in 1933 and underwent major renovation in 2003. In 2023, the footbridge was restored to the original 1933 design. Anyway, thank you very much for your interest in this photo :-)

Wes Pettus A wonderful image Gérard! It made me think about the importance of making images of places and things we take for granted, that we might see all the time. We may assume they will be there alot longer. I looked at your image through the lens(no pun intended) of a Califoria resident, having watched fires destroy homes and iconic places in our area. I watched the city of Lahaina, Hawaii, its beauty and history destroyed by fire. I'm glad I still have my fond memories and photographs of Lahaina. Sorry for a bit of a rant.
