Residual X (Final)

This is the tenth and final image of my 'Residual' series. All shot on the Isle of Eigg while on a photography workshop with the well-known Scottish photographer Bruce Percy. We had to battle blue skies and lack of atmosphere, but the ever present patterns and structured in the sand made it all worthwhile. These pointy patterns are not clearly visible right away but when you take a closer look you tend to find more of them. Getting low with a wide angle lens emphasizes these structures in the foreground.

More patterns on the sandy beach of Isle of Eigg. The tide had left pointy markers on the wet send when pulling back the water. With the ever present outline of the Isle of Rum in the background, it looks like this island has something to do with these odd patterns.

Hasselblad 500C + Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 50mm, Fuji Neopan Acros 100 II b&w negative film, ND grad filter, ND 10 stops filter, tripod, cable release.

Shot on Fuji Neopan Acros 100 II b&w negative film with my Hasselblad 500C, equipped with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 50mm lens. The film was developed by a professional photography lab after which I digitized the negative with my DSLR. Further post-processing was done in Lightroom, Photoshop and Silver Efex.
