This was shot from the rocky beach of Tjornuvik on the island of Streymoy in the Faroe Islands. I made quite some shots from here, trying to catch the desired slowish shutter speed so that there is some texture left but not to much. I believe this is my best attempt at it and I am quite happy with the result. The cliffs on the left and right side balance the composition while the incoming and retreating surf creates a focal point in the foreground. The stark contrast adds to the dramatic atmosphere I was looking for.

Final image from this series of the Faroe Islands. It has been very inspiring using my analog Hasselblad camera on this trip. I noticed my approach to photography is totally different from when I shoot digital. I hope to be able to do this more often and I sincerely hope you will follow me on this journey.

Hasselblad 500C + Distagon 50mm lens, Ilford Delta 100 film, ND grad filter, ND 10 stops filter, tripod, cable release.

Shot on Ilford Delta 100 120 film with ND grad and ND 10 stops filter to slow the shutter speed. This creates a smooth water surface and emphasized the calmness of the image and simplifies it at the same time. It also causes the moving clouds to appear as streaks, giving some dynamics in an otherwise static image. The negative was developed by a professional lab. The negative I digitalized with my DSLR. Further post-processing was done in Lightroom, Photoshop and Silver Efex.
