Mile-high Mt. Katahdin, in Baxter State Park, is exactly 20 miles(32 km) due west from my home. It is a weather maker. It was sacred to the native American Penobscot tribe. I am fortunate to live on the edge of the great wilderness that Katahdin populates. This wilderness extends to Canada forming the western and northern borders of the state. The only thing man-made disturbing my view are a few farm buildings - 1 mile distant - but they are downhill from me and far enough away to not be bothersome.
