Anders Dornonville De La Cour I'm a little split: Is it to be judged for it's pictorial value alone, or to an important amount, also becourse of what the title is loaded with ? I happend so, that I enjoyed it immensly for many seconds totally unaware of the title: I enjoyed the graphics, the ambience and the very special mood. The simple fact, that the whole picture was hayvily blurred, yet loaded with mood and tension. Then suddenly knowing the title, I felt it highly inappropriate to enjoy anything, because it now was turned into a documentary of horrendus suffering. I think there is an interesting question of principles here. I don't have the answer, but I would like to hear other oppinions. I rate it for the first joyfull seconds.

Steve Deer Hi Anders... When I took this trip to Krakow specifically to visit Auschwitz Birkenau I wanted to capture the very heavy sombre mood of the place, and let the audience decide if it was appropriate or not, our guide had told me not to take pictures because it slowed down the vast crowds in the tours (the huge size of the crowds were a disapointment)... I hung back from the guide and shot very quickly with a lensbaby (www.lensbabies.com).

this particular shot was taken thru a small eye size porthole in the prison door with a guessed shutter speed at iso 1600

regards

steve
