Biography

Eric Mancini, Dallas, United-States30 years oldI was born and raised in Denton, TX and elementary school is what I remember the most about art and how I became exposed to it and was allowed to explore my own creativity at a very young age. When I was a young kid I would go to Hastings with my mom while my brother took piano lessons down the road. At Hastings I would read Calvin and Hobbes comics which consisted of me mostly looking at all the great drawings by Bill Watterson. I would also usually pick up a 'How To Draw Superheros' tutorial book and beg my mom to get both. As my life progressed I found myself becoming intensely involved in sports and art slowly drifted away somehow. The Calvin and Hobbes books were slowly traded in for baseball cards and Big League Chew bubble gum. After certain life experiences in college down in Edinburg, TX where I was playing baseball for The University of Texas Pan American. I decided to move back home to Denton, TX. I was a lost soul drifting by, with really not much purpose. I had ambitions but was too distracted by all the nonsense in the world and the mistakes I had made while at The University of Texas Pan American to make any drastic moves for myself. I had some friends that were studying Art at the University of North Texas. I started painting again, just threw myself into it, LITERALLY, I threw paint everywhere and found that just doing that brought some sense of accomplishment and finishing something. I couldn't stop, I constantly wanted to see what I could create next. My friends studying art were almost sick of me constantly coming over to paint and getting paint all over their house haha, it became what I like to call a positive addiction as long as I could continue to afford all the paint. I believe art and especially the freedom of painting helped me. I hope you can gain something from my art or maybe just forget the little things for a while and get lost in the paint!
