One of the Postcard series, but with a difference - Over 20 years ago some linoleum blocks from my father’s studio were stored in a box in my attic. I recently unearthed them and have been experimenting with the technique. I’m finding that adding an inked block cut to a second printed image, then scanning the combination into PS for modifications adds structure and substance and a certain rustic simplicity of style to the final picture. The handwritten text reads: “There is electricity in Dazhengzhao village, but no plumbing. People do their wash in the village stream. Life is simple and pure; people eat what they raise in the fields. Only a few young people leave for the city. The rest remain tied to the land and traditions that stretch back hundreds of years. Changes that swept over China were felt like distant storms that made the sky dark, but the changes were not felt so much in the country.”

Technical combining two printed images - one from PS the other from a linoleum block, scanning to PS for finishing.

Beate Letschert Jared, you are creating an imaginative new world from remains of yesterday. Very intense atmospheres. Thanks for your explanations. Makes it very valuable!

Alexander Kolesnik Phenomenal. Pleasure from the fact that the author simply and earnestly, gave an emotional complicity. As a balm for the soul, not otherwise.

Oleg Ferstein It is indeed a very interesting technique! I can't say that I grabbed it and really understand exactly the way of manipulation... :))) But I found the image very enhanced and standing out. And plus to it, perfectly composed! Great work, Jared!
