This grew out of the man walking abstracts. The burgeoning spheroid shape with the scowling gremlin peering out of the barred window beneath the scree and tufa of this imaginary planet hopefully captures the explosive geography of anger. Is the monster trapped in its cell or in control of the flight deck? Are we a race of Captain Kirks or a lost species trapped in a bubble of insanity. Is the world as we know it going to Hell or is this period of violent uncertainty only a momentary boil to be treated with caustic solution and folded back into history. Created with more texture than color. Pumice, acrylic gel, sand and spackle on a 44 x 44 surface fixed to a wooden panel and finished in encaustic medium.

Oleg Ferstein For me it looks like an effect of magnifying glass within a magnifying glass, within a magnifying glass... Very much reminds me one of the most significant dynamic sculptures by Maurits Escher. And Monster and magnification are very ingredients of the same substance! The substance, we call human fear! I can perfectly imagine this sphere growing. Growing endlessly! And with it's growth and revealing the tiny details of not just objects, but meanings and categories, it brings us to the most terrifying but in the same time very attractive territory! Territory of an unknown! And there is where we start to question! So, the monster is just a mask. Behind it - we are! Another excellent and thunderous work, Jared!

Jos Letschert Space and earth become rather close in your work. It is not the lonely planet you are creating, it is the earth in connection with an outer world. Very interesting 'Pollock-ly' created, I think.

Tom O Scott As the polls tighten, and the specter of a lunatic taking over the U.S. becomes a real possibility, this work reflects my own fears. I still remain optimistic, though each day it seems to get more tenuous. Brilliant work, as always.

Dana Winkelman I agree with Oleg and Roberto. The thumbnail looked like a magnifying glass effect but the bigger version looks like an object that is distorting everything around it. I think it depicts the current chaos and destructiveness really well. The probability of a species going extinct is one, given enough time. However, it is a shame we seem so hell bent on accelerating that process. Great work with real feeling.
