Roberto De Mitri Alexandru... :) ... Yes, I added a texture. A very light texture, but there is.
As we can say in magic, the trick is there but you do not see it ... :)

Roberto De Mitri Claudio...

Tony Brandstetter I like the Portrait Void , nice original work, blown out and giving us all sort of mystery

ps...modella eccezzionale e panneggi tridimensionali!big fav...

Beate Letschert Most excellent art-work, Roberto. Breathtaking to be faced this way.

Henri Manguy Really a very strange portrait. A portrait where one is facing the character but where he masks his face. Consequently, it is no longer a portrait if one sticks to the usual definition of the word : A portrait is a work of pictorial, graphic, photographic or, formerly, sculptural art whose purpose is to represent, In a similar manner, a person with his outfit and his characteristic expressions (Wikipedia). Here we lack the resemblance. So why ? Reason probably belongs only to you. Unless it belongs to the model, who perhaps did not want it to be recognized. All this belongs to the mystery of Roberto De Mitri.

Claude De Maisonneuve Where may be words and expressions are to hard to say, to revealed, because of her hurting soul, a broken heart.. Great work Roberto !

Thierry Lair A beautiful faceless yet recognizable model that follows you Roberto.

Jos Letschert Roberto, a beautiful icon of emptiness. In a way I think in line with the work of Giorgio de Chirico -maybe I feel that connection because of the form of the head, or the mask -, while I am looking at your photo. Scuola Metafisica, that influenced the Surrealist painters so much, or even the designs De Chirico made for the Ballets Russes of Diaghilev. Anyway, a masterpiece, also in the treatment of the light and the graphic design.

Roberto De Mitri Carmelita...

Roberto De Mitri Tony ... :) ... what is unknown can give us so many feelings. Even contrasting. it can attract, but can also frighten us. This is the charm of his mystery ... and thank you very much for the kind comment! :)

Roberto De Mitri Claudio ...

Roberto De Mitri Ms. Beate... :) ... Breathtaking and even a bit disturbing, I have to say... :) ... and thank you very much for the nice comment!

Roberto De Mitri Henri... :) ... very strange portrait, indeed!
But then, I wonder what the correct definition would be, for a dictionary, of portrait void. Because at first sight it immediately appears as a paradox… The description of something that by definition has no description. What is this “Void”? It has no borders, no mass and no features for sure.
So, the more I read the definition of portrait you wrote, the more I realize that this is an ideal portrait of void. or better… portrait void.
A portrait void is a work of pictorial, graphic, photographic or, formerly, sculptural art whose purpose is to represent, in a similar manner, a condition of existential deprivation, a lack or detachment, a deep feeling of alienation.
and thank you very much for the nice and interesting comment... :)

Roberto De Mitri Claude... :) ... thank you very much for the kind comment! ... :)
indeed, even your words can provide a valid alternative of definition of portrait void.

Roberto De Mitri Thierry... :) ... yes, yes, ...:D ... but if she follows me, then it would be right to add that I follow her as she follows me. And I follow her again!

Roberto De Mitri Jos... :) ... I must admit that Giorgio De Chirico and the Scuola Metafisica they enter, albeit unconsciously (or at least I do not know at what level of unconscious), in this image and in the abstract feelings it transmits.
Though unwittingly, but I must admit that I am always well aware of De Chirico's art and his ability to create moments of estrangement and alienation. Probably if purgatory existed, it would look like a painting by De Chirico… :D
So, I think that, maybe in the feelings and in the spirit, this picture is very close to the works of De Chirico. Because, in a subtle way, it appears here the same desire or idea to represent something that goes beyond the sensory perception. So that the mind is free to wander in a space of dream and of visions of the unconscious.
and thank you very much for the beautiful comment and for this comparison of ideas... :)

M W Ah this is wonderful, Roberto! How many of us don't use a mask? Or how many sometimes want to remain faceless? Or how many are not aware of their carrying a mask! And here there is a very clear divided black and white (0-1 system) ;) I guess many people are afraid of harsh life in 0-1 system. Majority prefer milder grey tones where they can hide. That's why in a harsh life they prefer wear a mask(?)
14 Aug 2017 at 08:12pm

Roberto De Mitri Well Maria… :) … you know well, we all wear a mask and infinite masks at the same time. Actively, that is what we want others to see about us. Passively, that is, what others see in us anyway. As others consider us.
Even staying anonymous and without face is a mask, in my opinion.
What we have here is an empty space. A portrait of emptiness. Which is the antithesis of the mask. The ideal negation of the very concept of mask. You say there is a clear division, a clear black and white dichotomy. Perhaps, in this photo, this concept of black and white dichotomy is combined with the theme of void? Not a mask, not infinite masks, but the cancellation of each mask. a pure condition of alienation and estrangement. A cancellation of any identity. Of any will…
The cancellation of every black and every white and every infinite shade of gray.
A portrait void is a mirror that does not reflect any face.
So, what is a portrait void? Well, I don't know… perhaps here we enter in an existential paradox that is useless to answer... :)
And thanks always for these stimulating and clever comparisons of ideas ... :)

M W Roberto ;) You say "What we have here is an empty space. A portrait of emptiness. Which is the antithesis of the mask. The ideal negation of the very concept of mask (...) The cancellation of every black and every white and every infinite shade of gray." So, we have nothing else then, but tabula rasa :) Rather impossible to "reset" the face, experiences, past, life... but sometimes would be very tempting option ;)
17 Aug 2017 at 11:28pm
Roberto De Mitri well Maria... :) ... for sure, your consideration "Rather impossible to "reset" the face, experiences, past, life..." is fully shared. Unless we consider the extinction of all our experiences, our passions and our desires as the attainment of a Nirvana condition... :)
We do not live in an abstract world, but in a real world. Made of tangible things and continuous experiences. So I exclude this version... :D
My vision is to be considered an extreme. A theoretical point unattainable.
We are and wear masks in continuous evolving and transforming...
So, in this picture, we are far from the Nirvana bliss.
Rather, this void is a condition of the soul. Something that many of us carry inside. Many of us know. But that we are unable to communicate.
And thanks again for your contribution ... :)

Roberto De Mitri Dana... :) ... I don't know what she is conjuring... or what is this mask... But I think that the surrealist charm of this image is in its indefinable mystery...
