Tina Fiorenza Ciao Roberto,
Bravo come sempre.

Roberto De Mitri grazie Tina...

Roberto De Mitri indeed, Claude... :) ... many mysteries, thoughts, feelings, unspoken words, lurk in the depths of this dark nest... and thank you very much for the nice comment! :)

M W ...of doubts? of giving up? of anger? of helplessness?
All these emotions seem to emanate from her gestures, especially crossed hands?
Many questionmarks, many mysteries, many presumptions.
It would be brazen, insolent to enter her very personal life without even a slight permission.
Veeeery good artwork, and as always very "talkative" :)

Roberto De Mitri Maria... :) ... of oblivion, I suppose... :)
but... as you say well, In the position of her arms, in her gesture... She seems to embrace and welcome this black abyss in a loving way. Because, as I always say, in the darkness of the shadows you can find anything.
Not only ghosts, restlessness, fear, doubts, anger or helplessness... But also new possibilities, hopes, new ways that are hidden in the dark. But they are still present. Maybe you do not see them. But they are, however, present.
So we can say that she is like a universe isolated and distant from everything but at the same time welcomes everything, inside her mysterious depth...
and thank you very much for the kind comment! :)

Roberto De Mitri Helene... :) ... indeed, a dark poetics, perhaps melancholic, but not necessarily a gloomy message... and thank you very much for the nice comment... :)

Roberto De Mitri Carmelita...
17 Jul 2017 at 11:19pm

Jørgen Feldstedt Great picture - wonderful musterious mood that can be interpreted a little differently I think. Many unspoken words - many stories to tell! Great work Roberto!

Aleksandar Budjevac Exceptional for me and special work. Sentimental and touchy. Full emotions. This can be a man who knows a woman's soul. Lines and women respond with elegance.

Roberto De Mitri Aleksandar... :) ... thank you very much for the nice comment and beautiful words... :) ... I do not know if there is a person in the world who can claim to know the deep soul of a woman. And portray it. but I think not to be that person. At least experience of the past demonstrates this... and again, thank you very much! :)

M W Oh come on Roberto, even such a weird person as me that loves darkness and hates light ;), perceives (like probably the 99,99% of population worldwide) exactly the light, sunlight, brightness as a new hope, new horizons, something new to come, positive, good, hopefull, etc, etc. And for the first time I meet that "...in the darkness of the shadows you can ... not only ghosts, restlessness, fear, doubts, anger or helplessness... But also new possibilities, hopes, new ways that are hidden in the dark." :) In many fields in life I see and perceive things in a different and varying way than the majority of people but in here, I have to belong to this majority of population for a short moment that interpretes the darkness in a negative way ;) And second, not the darkness or lightness plays a main role I guess here but this position of her... her hands crossed... this body language is not full of hope and new horizons. Roberto, but it's only mine reflection and that's how I "read" this artwork :) I can't absolutely deny that there are positives and hopes here too, but as you wrote correct, I can't find them. Maybe it's living in the darkness too long ;))) But seriously, I love and admire always the author's personal point of view because it's the totally personal someone's way of seeing the things differently than e.g. me seeing something.

Roberto De Mitri Ah yes yes … :) … I understand what you mean, Maria... :) ... but, believe me, this is not an extemporaneous thought. Or a conclusion I came up right a few days ago, writing my answer. In fact, much of the “poetics” (understood as the complex of conceptions and of the ideas behind the photos) that outline my photos, not just landscapes, is in this reversal of the classic conception and symbolic meaning of these two elements.
Is a bit difficult to explain. This concept is only clear to me, probably. But I will try to explain.
Light reveals, shadows hide.
The light, revealing, gives us a definite figure.
Darkness, on the other hand, has within itself the potential of the infinite. It has and is whatever. Both good and evil. Both hope and despair.
What we see can be conventionally considered real.
And this is the limit of the human being. Our limit.
To consider, for real what we see. When, instead, what surrounds us is just illusion and deceit. What can seem obvious to us is just a mirage.
I believe in the shadows. not because I am dark. but because they are the picture of the indefinable. they contain the infinite and unspeakable potential of becoming.
Darkness is like the silence. Silence does not emit words.
And, by definition, is not able to lie.
The words, instead, are determined. The words lie. Light lies too. Because it shows you illusions.
About the position of her body…
Well, yes… Obviously, as usual, we are talking about purely subjective readings and interpretations… :)
You write: "this body language is not full of hope and new horizons." … yes, this is true… indeed she seems to sink into a abyss of despair… but, at the same time, in these arms crossed, she conveys a sense of protection. She is an isolated universe. But not necessarily a universe that is sinking into despair. It's like a star far away in the sky. a star adrift in the infinite silence of space... :)

Roberto De Mitri Ms. Philomena... :) ... This hug of darkness can be a symbolic attempt to isolate herself. Like a distant universe. But also a desire of protection... To protect all that is present within this universe.
and thank you very much for the lovely comment... :)

Dana Winkelman Roberto. Wow! I love this photo. It is almost an antithesis of the previous one (not completely but almost). The negative space is now the environment and I am left wondering her situation. Her posture suggests a withdrawal or coldness. Your photos are always very emotional but I am struck more by the physical beauty of the actual photo. I love the shapes and movement and the grain is perfect for the tone. Your work is always worthy but for me this is in my top few. I also think this shot mirrors your seascapes. As I have told you, you shoot landscapes that remind me of women and here your woman reminds me of your seascapes. Very cool. Uber cool. All the best. Dana...

Roberto De Mitri Dana... :) ... A very different work than the previous one. I agree. I do not know if it is different in content, that is, in the feelings it communicates. Even though I think so. Surely it is very distant in the expressive form.
and, as you often said and remembered, this portrait resembles the sensations that communicate the landscapes. Is a very intimate "expressionism". This portrait, so the landscapes. Who lose their true appearance and become suggestions and feelings.
well... :) ... I'm repeating what you said, because I think you said everything very well and I have nothing to add.
so, thank you very much for the beautiful, meaningful and accurate comment! :)
