This was shot on the island of Vagar, one of the islands that make up the Faroe Islands. This remote part of the world is well known for its dramatic shorelines with steep cliffs, ever changing weather conditions and a moody and dramatic atmosphere. Oh, and there are many, many sheeps :-)
Traveling around here is not that difficult as many islands are connected by tunnels or otherwise bridges. Problem is that the stunning scenery makes you want to stop at every corner, as the view changes from that perspective. Having a great shoreline in front of you is one thing, what really adds to an image is that you often have one of the other islands in the background, acting as a kind of extra. This adds depth to the image and helps to balance the composition.

The often tough weather conditions on the Faroe Islands scream for creating images with a moody and dramatic look. Shooting analog black & white film adds to this concept.

Hasselblad 500C with Distagon 50mm lens, Ilford Delta 100 film, ND grad, ND 10 stops filter, tripod, cable release.

I shot this on Ilford Delta 100 medium format (120) film with my trusty Hasselblad 500C, equipped with a Distagon 50mm lens. I used a ND grad filter to balance the sky with the foreground and a ND 10 stops filter to lengthen the exposure time in order to smooth out the choppy water surface. I used an app to beat the reciprocity failure. Post-processing was done in Lightroom, Photoshop and Silver Efex (NIK).
