The exhibition includes new works from the eagerly-awaited new series »1406« that have never been exhibited before. Christian Tagliavini has worked for more than two years on his new series. In the exhibition's second part, main works from previous series such as »1503«, »Carte« and »Voyages Extraordinaires« will be shown.
Born in 1971, Christian Tagliavini was raised in Italy and Switzerland. His career as an architect and designer also influences his career as an artist to invent, create and produce works. His pieces of art are not only pictures but complex designed narrations for which Christian Tagliavini produces all objects by himself: from the interieur to the clothings of the portrayed persons. With this unique feature in the world of photo art he is considered to be a »photographic craftsman«. His series »1503« (2010), »Carte« (2012) and »Voyages Extraordinaires« (2015) have been part of international exhibitions and are sought-after body of works on the art market – several works were sold out shortly after they had been released and are part of prestigious collections today. The latest series entitled »1406« is exhibited in 2017/18 in a comprehensive solo exhibition at CAMERA WORK. In spring 2018, museum Fotografiska in Stockholm will present a retrospective of Christian Tagliavini. His works are part of major collections – public and private – around the world. Christian Tagliavini works and lives in Switzerland.
CAMERA WORK gallery specializes in contemporary photography and vintage masterworks since its founding in 1997. It is our aim to show the development of photo-art from its inception to the present by presenting classical icons such as Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Man Ray and Herb Ritts. Even though the emphasis of the exhibited works is on nude-, portraiture- and fashion photography, the spectrum of photographs also encompasses the genres of landscape, architecture and still life. Nowadays, photography is increasingly influential in contemporary art and contributes to blurring the boundaries between different artistic mediums. Our ambition is to consciously emphasize this increasing tendency by paying special attention to contemporary artists with creative potential, such as Nick Brandt, Tina Berning & Michelangelo Di Battista, David Drebin, Jean-Baptiste Huynh, Russell James, Robert Polidori, Eugenio Recuenco, Martin Schoeller and Christian Tagliavini.CAMERA WORK regularly joins the world’s most important fairs for photo art, Paris Photo, Photo London, Photofairs Shanghai and Photofairs San Francisco among them. In order to focus even more on contemporary photography, CAMERA WORK opened a second gallery in Berlin, named CWC GALLERY, in 2012.
