Marco Pastori, Amateur photographer

Marco Pastori, Amateur photographer

E quella macchia. Da certezze iniziali emergono solo interrogativi.

Marco Pastori Ma è veramente assopita comodamente?

Roberto De Mitri, Citizen of the World

Henri Manguy, Author photographer
Henri Manguy Per me, caro Roberto, l'immagine è perfetta ... senza macchia.
For me, dear Roberto, the image is perfect ... without the stain. But if you stick to the stain so that everyone asks questions about its role or its meaning, I "give my tongue to the cat" as we say in French. I prefer not to ask a question about it, because I know myself, I very likely think that you have put a bottle of wine on the image and that the wine has flowed on it. ;-)
I hope it's more understandable.
And I hope that this little remark will not have offended you.

Roberto De Mitri Claudio... :)

Jos Letschert, Professional painter
Jos Letschert It is not easy, not to say impossible, to follow the Italian conversation about this photo. For my Dutch ears it sounds as if you are suggested to take care not to spoil your espresso while working on photos. I am sure this is far away from the real and valuable discussion. Your photo is a very beautiful expression how to bring a whole ( a nearly whole) person in the quadrant of a photo without losing the elegance and beauty of the model. i think you succeeded very wel Roberto and created a very balanced solution for a composing challenge. The imperfect feeling results in a perfect design and the espresso, ok, or the wine, gives that touch of divine poetry to it.

Roberto De Mitri, Citizen of the World
Roberto De Mitri Henri... :) ... I am glad that you have expressed your thoughts and I understand your point of view. And I have to say that the google translator worked very well … :)

I answer your observations with some of my considerations. I do not like using too heavy textures or too much post production. I always hope to keep the original photo as intact as possible. Because often, in my opinion, the use of a texture serves to mask a picture that is not too good. in this case the texture works very well and works harmoniously with the photo. below, the red line follows the forms of the woman's body. at the top, this broken circle (ideally) covers the eyes of her.

From an aesthetic point of view, the texture works very well. It works in a very harmonious way with the image and the final result is aesthetically pleasing. if the photo is better with the texture or it is better without it, this is a pure matter of taste. if and what metaphorical or symbolic meaning has the texture, this is yet another matter and I personally do not attribute any symbolic value to it... or unconscious meaning. it is not a Rorschach test. it's just a texture. :)

Roberto De Mitri Iryna... :) ... il mito di Danae rivive in questa foto? indeed, I admit that there is a certain aesthetic similarity with Klimt's painting. perhaps both are lost within their dreamy dimension, far from the real world... e grazie mille per il gradito commento! :)

Marko Polonio, Amateur photographer
Marko Polonio Imperfect feeling... like a drop of ink in the water, rippled as her pose suggests. Imperfect, maybe because it is still in motion and not yet fully shaped. Still, turned inward with eyes which are not visible, like a portrait of a feeling, somewhere in-between the steps that lead to this moment and those that lead out of it. Withdrawn until the ripples pass or carry her towards... Perhaps a cathartic moment is in play.

Roberto De Mitri Maria... :) ... your words make me very happy. it's something I'm learning to do and it's not always easy. using the body to describe a feeling is an art that is certainly part of photography, but it requires a lot of effort and concentration. it is not always intuitive. but I'm learning... :) ... and thank you very much for the kind words and comment... :)

Roberto De Mitri, Citizen of the World
Roberto De Mitri Jos... :) ... Italian is probably a language destined to make the end of Latin. a very beautiful language, but, like many beautiful things, destined to succumb to advantage of more practical languages. said that... I will try to summarize a little the previous speech.
as I wrote, I do not like to often use too heavy textures, because from my point of view the texture is used to cover a picture that is not entirely valid. sometimes the textures are "specious" and make the image heavy. but in this case it works well, is functional to the image and harmonizes well with it (always in my opinion). I do not think it is very useful to find an allegorical or symbolic sense to the stain. wine, coffee or ink that it is, it is an aesthetic component that serves to complete the image.
as you have well said... a balanced solution indeed... :)

and thank you very much for the nice comment and for your always very relevant observations... :)

Roberto De Mitri, Citizen of the World
Roberto De Mitri Marko... :) ... a very beautiful and poetic image reading. you say "it is still in motion and not yet fully shaped". I could say imperfect because, although born it did not reach its natural conclusion. has been interrupted. like a broken circle. like this broken circle.

and this ink perhaps could have told a story. beautiful or sad. but this story remained on the tip of the pen. the ink has fallen on the paper and now its presence stains the memory...

and thank you very much for the beautiful comment! :)

Roberto De Mitri Dana... :) ... it is the first time that the word "intimacy" comes out within this long "debate" on the photo. and now that you make me notice, even in my opinion this picture has nothing dark or sad. we can not see her eyes, but we can see a slight smile (or maybe I imagine it) on her mouth. so the mood is peaceful and serene. peaceful and serene... and this mood invites us to enter into the intimacy of the image... and all the best to you, Dana... :) ... thanks always for your considerations of great importance...
