A sketch of an interesting movement in a sketch book, two weeks of summer spent in Nice on French language courses, wonderful unique atmosphere of joie de vivre that you feel there fully, Matisse's villa on a hill among old pine and olive trees, literature and history, which are hard not to think about, being there, and a lot of sun.
All this together is somehow melted, mixed , often in secret even from the author, and the painting is obtained.
Honestly, I can't remember what exactly this painting was brought to life. Or did this female character just ask me on canvas?
I painted this artwork, trying to find the personal touch of the character through movement, gesture, color, clothes. Here, as in many of my paintings, the influence of the style of the 30s is noticeable: a clear line, local color relationships, even the character and clothes of the models remind that time.
