This beautiful Magnolia Tree grows in the garden of our friends in their French estate.
The whole atmosphere of this lovely old house and garden, simple tasty food, clean air, friends, dogs, flowers, sky give a feeling of pure joy and peace.
In the painting, two young women are sitting in sun loungers under a magnolia tree. One of them is reading a book, the other is dreaming. A good friend brown Labrador sits nearby and guards their peace.The joy of life. Behind the garden you can see the beautiful hills and the sky like when the ocean is near.

I painted this artwork for quite a long time, trying to find the personal touch of each character through movement, gesture, colour, clothes.
Here, as in many of my paintings, the influence of the style of the 30s is noticeable: a clear line, local color relationships, even the characters of «models» remind that time, which I feel very close to me both in spirit and in design.
The artwork was painted with a brush and pallet knife in several layers.
