Image description
I met Meghan, who is a landscape photographer, while I was living in Southern Maine. She found my work that was being done for Portland Ballet and one day invited me over to her farm where several other local photographers were meeting up one afternoon. I was the only portrait photographer there, but it didn't take long for me to see all of the beautiful elements of this historic farm which consisted of several acres of land, a farm house, and barn from the 1850s. Just following my portrait shoot with Lindsey I was asked by Meghan if / could shoot some portraits of her. It was the last year she would be managing the farm and I agreed. I seldom turn down opportunities to shoot portraits and I love the pace of creating with my clients. As a full time wedding photographer my days working are full of high stress, running while shooting instinctively, and culling through thousands of RAW files only to begin weeks of lengthy edits.
I love my work in weddings, but that beautiful calmness and delicate light and shadows I seek out often shows through in my portrait work.
Moving forward in the near future l've already begun to turn down lengthy weddings, opting for smaller events and elopements.
Honestly, I love the intimacy of working one-on-one with people and with smaller groups. In Texas and Arizona everything is bigger and often "over the top" with weddings, and the more I delve into elopements and portrait shoots I fell like I'm right where I want to be.
There's nothing greater than creating your dream business and then drawing in new clients who love to do what you do. While social media continues to bombard us with far too much of people leaving little to nothing of an individuals sacred personal life, I would happily drown in my photography work that I hope will reflect on my clients and the deeply intimate and personal fractional moments of their special day.
