Past life

Anyone who has walked around a deserted village knows that special sense of timelessness and the feeling that the ghosts of those who once lived there are hovering around.
No one is sitting on these chairs anymore, no nimble housewives are walking behind these walls, and no one is looking out with anticipation through these windows. Nobody drinks from the glasses, nobody wipes the photos with a caring hand, the clothes on the hanger will never be worn again ...
Lonely houses - sad old women with cracked faces and empty eyes. They hid ghosts and orphan creatures in their secret pockets, and hostile to strangers, ready at any moment to pierce their rotten floors to swallow the intruders. Are they waiting for the next big rain, capable of knocking down their roofs and ripping out their tired souls, or are they listening for steps that would fill them with life again ...

This photo is part of my photographic adventures in the Western Bulgarian Outlands and Kraishte - areas once bustling with life, but now depopulated...
