Britain's Coastal Heritage
Sea Pictures Gallery, Mixed-media, Suffolk, United-Kingdom
Friday July 6, 2012 - Friday August 24, 2012 - Event ended.

Our current exhibition - Britain's Coastal Heritage - is an exciting exhibition with works in all media, from over 20 artists from around the UK. Our walls are crammed with paintings, more than we have ever hung before! We welcome Richard Corbett to the gallery for the first time and also the return of Sylvia Paul and Brin Edwards. With artists vying for top spot on the chimney breast this honour has gone to Sylvia Paul with her bright acrylic collages. If you are looking for large pieces then Richard Dack has gone that extra mile this time with his View towards Blakeney from Morston Quay but as ever, Doug Page is not far behind.

Michael Sole who is currently back in the UK, has new work on his page and in this exhibition alongside work from Alistair Butt RSMA, Andie Clay ASWA, Paul Coghlin ABIPP and Carol Saunderson. Embroiderer Michelle Holmes has been stitching furiously for us and has new cards and prints too.
We are adding in new pieces all the time in the gallery and some things don't even make it to the wall, let alone the website! We have new prints from Linda Farquharson as well as new pieces from Trevor Sowden. We have also added a new artist to the gallery - Gordon Rushmer - and more details of his work will appear shortly on the website though his work is already up on the wall of the gallery.

We are now listed in Suffolk Magazine's "100 Things To Do in Suffolk" so come and see us soon.

Sylvia Paul is a really experimental artist with a fascination for colour and texture. None of her work can be viewed quickly. You will always find something hidden - a piece of silver foil, a square of bus ticket. Painstakingly produced and beautifully presented.
Like her colleague Doug Page, she spends a lot time at Harwich Docks and along the coastline near there gathering ideas and material for her work.

Photographer Paul Coghlin is also fascinated by the structures and shapes along the coastline. His new piece Victorian Lighthouse Dovercourt is typical.
