The general theme is in preparation for digital murals to be permanently exhibited at a medical center in Santiago, Chile. This has been an initiative to identify icons which perpetuate the world of medicine as a lifetime dedication to healthcare and the well being of human life. The main goal of this project is to provide works of art within the premises of a medical as an effort to improve the healthcare environment for patients, staff and visitors. Studies I through XIX represent the archetype of motherhood and the relationship of women to our notion of procreation. The general composition has been divided into four sections; each one creating vertices represented by The Four Continents Upholding the Celestial Sphere by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875). These female figures are a metaphor to the four parts of the world and human race. There circumstance of holding the weight of the world resembles the idea of struggle for life and the vital responsibility to follow through, reason why they appear to be chained to there destiny. The backgrounds are stoic portraits of Roman Patricians who represent the idea of civilization as a final consequence of human procreation. Our view of justice and govern ability emanates from a serene woman who understands the administration of a household as much as the rule of an empire. The artwork of this series were all made from 4 drawings on Lexan film using litho crayon, rubbing ink, liquid Tusche, graphite and powder charcoal. The coloring took place digitally. | | Equipment | G5 | | Technical | digital painting | | Created | November 30, 2002 at 12:00am | | Published | October 15, 2008 at 02:48pm | | Art Limited seen | Yes | | Seen by members | 8 times | | Seen by visitors | 494 times | | Favourite | 0 times | | Social | |
