"Water Tanks" concerns the large tanks which are required on each storey of buildings in New York. The tanks which were built many years ago are made of wood and have been listed for conservation. Because various alternatives were chosen when taking the photographs, such as shooting from different angles, at different times, under different light conditions, under various weather conditions and at different locations, the images offered by the Water Tanks made it necessary to “break” every rule there is in photography, including rules of composition! These are rules which, as a professional photographer, I follow faithfully. But as an artist, I am always looking for an opportunity to “skive off” a little. In this sense, the portfolio represents a study – one which I shall continue in other neighborhoods in New York, Brooklyn and Chicago.
