My fine-art microphotography project "Microscopic Biodiversity" is going on. The Microscope opens a window to the beauties of the microcosmos, a world full of exotic creatures of unique and fascinating beauty ... Ever now and then, I will smuggle one of my fine-art microphotos into AL, hoping, that you enjoy this exotic world and feel that nature might meet art. This micrograph shows Hexarthra spec., a microscopic rotifer (magnification: 125x). The about 2000 species of rotifers live almost all in freshwater.
Actually, this rotifer is completely transparent and not blue. The blue color is due to strongly scattered blue light in dark-field microscopy.
