Taken with about 10 minutes of sunlight left. We left the lakes last night around 9pm .. this was taken just before then. The sun literally went behind the mountain leaving this darkness and quietness .. it was beautiful.. toyo-Field 45A. fuji FP-100B45 instant b&w film. In People, Infant, children, Girl. Jared Christopher Martin, Varied artist
Jared Christopher Martin the title says it all - dwindling light, intermittent focus, averted gaze, a reflective, mirrored context, a fragile young being. There is much artifice here, all of it in service to the image and its subject. We are invited to look but not enter, to register but not interrupt. There is decency and poetry and caring - and an uncannily simplified technique which becoming a hallmark of these portraits.
