The shot was taken for real (no Photoshop) and the road was closed during the shoot, of course.
I was given 20 minutes to shoot this.... great fun :(

Toni B Are you sure this is color?? Did you answer the right answer??
Is this True Yellow, Toned Yellow, Colorized Yellow or Gray Yellow??
Please be specific on that; it's crucial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jajaja. Cool shot and ad concept!!Mar 11, 2010 at 23:14 Andreas Heumann He he,
I think someone here thinks we have an hour spare time to upload a picture.
IF this would be a picture Library it might make sense but even then, people have eyes.
Why not upload pictures in Braile for the blind:
http://www.dblnj.org/braille.html
Prior to uploading I was without food, one zip of red wine and one Cigarette within one hour.Mar 11, 2010 at 23:26 Markku Saijets Good picture, I like very much!
It is interesting that you emphasise the fact that this is a real photo (no Photoshop). On the other hand, the final result is the most important in this kind of an advertisement picture. If it is a question of a news photo or similar, then the matter will be other. I understand of course, that you yourself consider the matter important.
So this leads the question: If you have two quite (or at least nearly) similar pictures. The other is real (no Photoshop) and the other not (Photoshop). Which one is more valuable?
Or then the second question: is it possible say, which one of the pictures is real?Mar 12, 2010 at 13:12 Andreas Heumann I made the decision to shoot this in camera because it was less time consuming.
With PS, I guess, this would have taken me approx, 8 hrs.
I had the cars travelling at walking speed using a multi exposure control unit.
That gave me more control in what I tried to achieve.
Value:
Advertising pictures don't have any value, they have one purpose only: SELL
From a professional point of view, yes, the in camera shot carries more weight and tickles professional pride :).
With nearly all manipulated shots we feel something is not right, on the other hand, look at the latest Panthene Hair Ads.
Those are absolutely ridiculous, even plastic window display models look more real.
I asked a few woman just "what do you think about that"? All replied with "ridiculous"
I go as far as thinking that if a Manufactures cheats on his clients he does the same with the actual product.
L'Oreal had to pay many million dollars for the same reason.
On this site you just know what pictures aree real, with natural borders, no layers or computer generated plug ins.
The final print is the proof of the pudding and that is all that counts to me, if it is real. HOLDING A PRINT.Mar 12, 2010 at 15:17 Mark Sadlier Know it well, spent many an (un)happy hour there.Mar 14, 2010 at 15:17 Andreas Heumann It is like torture. I bought shelves there ONCE.
The assembly as so complicated I put it on the skip :)Mar 14, 2010 at 15:32 Marianne Charlotte Mylonas-svikovsky Great discussion! Photoshop makes mannequins out of women, rather, mannequins seem sometimes more real .... Great picture ... rushing off to Ikea to buy your new bed ...Mar 17, 2010 at 20:15 Follow the discussion |
