A large painting which includes scenes of brutality; tyranny; the soldier in various historical periods; images of Hitler; human sculls; alarming pictures of wolves; warplanes overhead and a very bold nude female figure giving birth to what appears to be a crucified figure of man. It is his visual summary of the consequences of war. Rapp is an accomplished artist, and like so many European artists who have settled in Canada, he has a strong command of modern surrealist imagery. Excerpt from the critique by J. Brooks Joyner, Editor Visual Arts, The Albertan, Saturday, May 29th, 1976 This painting was entered in the Saachi Gallery Showdown IV, and was voted top 50 in Rounds 6, 7, 8 10 and 11 out of thousands of entries. | | Public projects | 2 [ List? ] | | Equipment | acrylic on canvas | | Technical | painting | | Created | November 30, 1974 at 12:00am | | Published | May 8, 2009 at 08:52pm | | Art Limited seen | Yes | | Seen by members | 112 times | | Seen by visitors | 3786 times | | Favourite | 4 times [ Who? ] | | Social | |
