Most of them stand in remote places high on the open moors.
This is what remains of a burial site dating from 5 - 6,000 years ago. The covering earth mound has long since gone leaving the chamber stones exposed.
The cap stone is around 2m high & weighs about 13.7 metric tons.
It may just be a pile of stones but still they are places of mystery & wonder. | | Public projects | 1 [ List? ] | | Equipment | Homemade lens | | Created | November 3, 2008 at 12:00am | | Published | November 14, 2008 at 11:29am | | Art Limited seen | Yes | | Seen by members | 247 times | | Seen by visitors | 2611 times | | Favourite | 9 times [ Who? ] | | Social | |
