Lanyon Quoit, photography by Mark Sadlier. Penwith in Cornwall has the highest concentration of prehistoric monuments in England. Most of them stand in remote places high on the open moors.

This is what remains of a burial site dating from 5 - 6,000 years ago. The covering earth mound has long since gone leaving the chamber stones exposed.

The cap stone is around 2m high & weighs about 13.7 metric tons.

Mark Hamilton really nice. It's what I love about your country .... the history which makes for some great photography. Although I think NZ is the best country in the world :) we are so young down here so don't have that element of man made beauty and mysticism down here
